Visa for Family Reunification to join Spouse

When applying for a visa, you need to present the following documents at the Embassy or Consulate responsible for your place of residence:

Married to a Belgian citizen or a European Economic Area (EEA) National who resides in Belgium.

• A travel document (e.g. national passport) valid for at least 12 months, in which a visa can be affixed.
• Two visa application forms duly completed, signed and accompanied by two recent photos bearing a true likeness to the applicant.
• An official copy of your Marriage Certificate and Birth Certificate.
• An official copy of the divorce ruling, divorce certificate or death certificate for your previous spouse if you had been married before.
• A copy of the Belgian identity card, confirmation of registration (attestation d'immatriculation/attest van immatriculatie) or residence permit of your spouse residing in Belgium who is a Belgian citizen or an EEA national

If you are married to an individual who is not a national of a country in the European Economic Area (EEA).

• You must submit the aforementioned documents.
• An extract from your judicial record [Certificate of Good Conduct or PCC] no more than six months and covering the previous five years.

Important:

1. The documents listed above are only the basic documents to be submitted in all cases. Additional documents may be requested by the Consulate and Applicants may also be invited for an interview.
2. Applicant will need to submit 01 set of original and 02 sets of photocopies of their documents at the time of submission of visa application.
3. Official documents issued in India must be legalised by the Consulate.
4. 02 set of the applicant’s passport’s 01st page, last page and address page must also be provided.
5. The Consulate may ask for verification from the bank/financial institutions for the financial documents provided.
6. The above mentioned type D visa is a one entry national visa and requires registration in the Belgian population registers on arrival.
7. The Consulate also processes applications for Luxembourg.
8. Minor applicants must provide a letter of consent signed by both parents.
