STUDY OR STUDY RELATED STAY

For a study-related stay in Belgium, you must apply for a temporary residence permit for study (Autorisation de Séjour Provisoire pour études/Machtiging tot Voorlopig Verblijf voor studies) from the Belgian embassy or consulate responsible for your place of residence. Documents to be submitted with a visa application:

• A valid travel document (e.g. national passport) valid for minimum 12 months, in which a visa can be affixed.
• Two visa application form correctly completed, signed and accompanied by Two recent passport photos bearing a true likeness to the applicant.
• Proof of registration or registration permit for a full course in a higher education establishment in Belgium, or proof of application for an equivalence certificate for diplomas or certificates issued abroad, or proof of registration for an admission test or entrance exam.
• A Grant or Scholarship or a Pledge of financial support for students.
• A medical certificate, obtained from the doctor designated by the Belgian embassy.
• A certificate of good conduct (or the local equivalent e.g. Police Clearance) if you are over 21 or 18 if studying at a private educational establishment.

Important:

1. The documents listed above are only the basic documents to be submitted in all cases. Additional documents may be requested by the embassy.
2. Official documents issued in India must be legalized by Ministry of External Affairs Patiala House New Delhi. Only Appostille legalization from Ministry of External Affairs will be accepted for the documents issued by Indian Public Authorities.
3. All official/legal document copies needed should be authenticated and not more than 06 months older than the date of application for visa.
4. The Embassy may ask for verification from the bank/financial institutions for the financial documents provided.
5. The above mentioned type D visa is a one entry national visa and requires registration in the Belgian population registers on arrival.
6. The Embassy also processes applications for Luxembourg.
